Strong goaltending leads Vikings past Liberty

Senior goaltender Jack Finch turned away all 25 shots he faced and Freshman forward Nolan Manzella buried his first goal as a Viking to lead Francis Howell to an opening round victory in the St. Charles Invitational Tournament Tuesday night at the Wentzville Ice Arena.

Manzella took a Brayden Brandhorst pass and fired it into the back of the net five minutes into the first period, giving the Vikings a lead they would never surrender.

The Vikings played a solid defensive game, killing two late, third period penalties to hold back Liberty in an exciting St. Charles Conference match up.

The Vikings (1-0-0) will play their next game in the tournament Sunday, October 6th against Fort Zumwalt North (1-0-0). The puck drops at 6 PM at the Wentzville Ice Arena. Admission is $5 per person.
