Player Agreement

All players and parents are required to review and sign the 2025 Player Agreement. Please download a copy at the link to the right. The signed document must be submitted before a player is considered fully registered.

FRANCIS HOWELL HOCKEY CLUB

PLAYER AGREEMENT

 

 

This agreement is entered into by and between the Francis Howell Hockey Club (“Club”) and the undersigned student-athlete (“Player”) and parent/guardian.




Student-Athlete Code of Conduct

o  Purpose - The Francis Howell Hockey Club (FHHC) is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants in its youth hockey programs, in alignment with its mission. This Player Code of Conduct establishes expectations for players to promote sportsmanship, safety, and positive development.

 

o  Applicability - This Code applies to all players registered in FHHC programs during practices, games, tournaments, team functions, and off-ice activities, whether in-person or online. Players are expected to always uphold this Code while representing FHHC

.

o  Expectations - As a member of the Francis Howell Hockey Club, I understand that I represent both the Club and the Francis Howell School District. I commit to:

o  Exhibit Sportsmanship: Play by the rules, respect teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials, and demonstrate graciousness in victory and defeat.

o  Maintain Respectful Communication: Refrain from swearing, abusive language, or disrespectful behavior on the ice, in the rink, or during team functions, including online interactions.

o  Respect Officials: Accept officials’ decisions without verbal or physical retaliation. Concerns about officiating shall be addressed by coaches, as coordinated by Club President

o  Adhere to Penalties: Skate directly to the penalty box upon receiving a penalty, without protest or delay.

o  Illegal Substance Use: Abstain from alcohol, tobacco, vaping, or illegal substances at all team functions, in accordance with USA Hockey and SafeSport guidelines.

o  Respect Facilities and Spaces: Conduct themselves responsibly at all facilities (e.g., rinks, hotels, restaurants) and respect private areas like locker rooms and benches, as designated for players, coaches, and officials.

o  Engage Responsibly Online: Comply with FHHC’s Social Media Guidelines, avoiding negative, harassing, or inappropriate posts about FHHC participants or programs on social media or digital platforms.

o  Cell Phone Usage: Cell phones and other mobile devices with recording capabilities, including voice recording, still cameras and video cameras, are not permitted to be used in the locker rooms. If phones or other mobile devices must be used, they should be taken outside of the locker room. [It may be permissible to have team manager collect phones prior to entering the locker room)

o  Prioritize Well-Being: Support teammates’ mental and physical well-being, report unsafe behavior, and seek assistance from coaches or a member of the Board of Directors when needed.

 




Disciplinary Actions for Violations / Enforcement

o  Reporting Violations: Suspected violations of this Code shall be reported in writing to a member of the FHHC Coaching Staff or board of Board of Directors within 10 days of the incident, unless extenuating circumstances apply.

o  Review Process: The Board of Directors or a designated Disciplinary Committee shall investigate violations, following procedures outlined in the Bylaws. Investigations may include interviews, document review, and hearings, with confidentiality maintained to the extent possible. Parents or guardians shall be notified for players under 18.

o  Sanctions: Violations may result in sanctions, including but not limited to warnings, game suspensions, removal from the team, or expulsion from FHHC, as determined by the Board of Directors by majority vote.

o  Appeals: Players or their parents/guardians subject to sanctions may appeal to the Board of Directors within 10 days of notification. The Board’s decision on appeal shall be final, except as required by USA Hockey or applicable law.

o  SafeSport Compliance: Violations involving safety, abuse, or harassment shall be reported to the Director of Player Safety for coordination with USA Hockey’s SafeSport Program, as required.




 

Dress Code

o  Games

o  Varsity & Junior Varsity Games: Players should arrive at varsity games in Francis Howell apparel.

o  B-Team Games: No formal dress code is required, but players must always represent the team positively.

o  Practices

o  Players must wear the reversible practice jersey provided by the Club.

o  No other jerseys are allowed during practice.

o  Safety Equipment

o  All players must wear USA Hockey approved neck protection at all FHHC on-ice games and practices - NO EXCEPTIONS. Players will not be allowed on the ice for any reason without neck protection.

o  All players must have a current, certified dark (black or navy blue) helmet with all snaps, ear guards and straps in working order. Players will not be allowed on the ice for any reason without a helmet meeting these standards.




Minor (Child) Photo Release

I grant the Francis Howell Hockey Club permission to display photographs, drawings, and other images of my child for lawful uses including, but not limited to, the FHHC website, social media, illustrations, advertising, and publicity.


I understand no royalty, fee, or other compensation will be paid to me for such use.

 




 

Acknowledgment of Consequences

I understand that failure to conduct myself responsibly during Francis Howell Hockey Club related activities, as stated or implied in this Player Agreement, may result in consequences up to, and including, suspension or dismissal from the team.
