The Cup is Coming Home!
Francis Howell took down St. Dominic 1-0 Thursday night at the St. Peters Rec Plex in a thrilling contest to reclaim ownership of the St. Chuck Cup!
Strong goaltending, a determined defensive effort and a timely goal powered the Vikings to their third tournament title in the last four years.
Senior Assistant Captain Caleb Bridges provided the games only tally, slipping the puck into the back of the Crusader net with 9:14 remaining in the final period. The unassisted goal led the way for the Vikings 5th consecutive win of the preseason.
Senior goaltenders Jack Finch and Easton Bristow split time in the crease, combining to turn away all 13 shots they faced. The Howell goalie tandem allowed just ONE goal in 15 periods of tournament hockey.
St. Dominic's defense answered with a strong performance of their own, allowing the Vikings just 14 shots.
The Vikings finish the tournament at 5-0-0, St. Dominic finishes at 3-2-0. Francis Howell's varsity season will kick off Nov. 1 with a rematch of the cup final. The two teams will play at 6:15 pm at the Rec Plex.
