Vikings defense tames Greyhounds, improve to 7-0!

19 shots. No goals.

It what has become a familiar game recap, the Francis Howell Vikings extended their winning streak to seven on Wednesday night by shutting out the Clayton Greyhounds 5-0.  Facing 19 shots on goal, Senior Goalie Easton Bristow turned them all away, keeping his shoutout streak alive, not allowing a goal in his four regular season starts.

Freshman Mason Land opened the scoring at 9:58 of the first.  The game-winning goal, assisted by Junior Assistant Captain Jonas Blankenship gave the Vikings a lead they would never surrender, or so it seemed.

Clayton appeared to tie the game late in the first period, but the officials waived off the goal after Vikings Assistant Captain Caleb Bridges questioned if the goal was kicked in. After the officials conferred, it was determined to have been scored with a deliberate kicking motion, and the Vikings lead was upheld.

Senior Keanean Bahm gave the Howell some breathing room, netting his second goal of the season at 5:09, assisted by Sophomore Nate Angelo who picked up his second assist of the season.

Angelo and Bahm reversed roles just 11 seconds later as it was Angelo, adding his third goal of the season, assisted by Bahm with 4:58 left in the second period.

The Vikings scored two goals in the third period, the first a short-handed goal from Senior Captain Riley Wright, assisted by Junior Brayden Brandhorst and Junior Will Peterson with 5:45 left in the game.

Senior Pearce King the second goal of the period, adding his second goal in as many games, and his third of the season, as he netted the fifth and final score of the contest with 3:15 remaining. Freshman Nolan Manzella picked up his third assist for the season on the goal.

Francis Howell (7-0-0) will take on Wentzville Liberty (4-0-2) Friday, Nov. 28 at 9:00pm at the St. Peters Rec Plex.
