Vikings Drop St. Chuck Cup Opener to Liberty, 3-1

The Francis Howell Vikings fell 3-1 to the Liberty Eagles in St. Chuck Cup varsity action on Wednesday night.

Howell struck first midway through the opening period when Charles Jackson (#18) found the back of the net at 7:15, with Nathan Angelo (#47) picking up the assist to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead.

Liberty answered before the first period ended. Conya Casella (#71) tied it up at 4:45 with a helper from Quinn Scrogin (#52), sending the teams into the break knotted at one.

The Eagles took control in the second period with two unanswered goals. Gray Randolph (#8) gave Liberty the lead at 4:29, assisted by Leo Moller (#10), and Mason Blanchard (#98) extended the advantage to 3-1 at 1:27 with Nick Kuhn (#41) earning the assist.

The third period saw Howell push for a comeback, but the Liberty defense and goaltender Brayden Dill (#39) held firm to secure the 3-1 victory.

Three penalties were called on the night - Alex Griffith took a tripping minor in the first for Howell, while Liberty's Ethan Peters and Nick Kuhn were whistled for tripping and crosschecking, respectively.
