Vikings Shutout Holt in 4-0 Victory

The Francis Howell Vikings defeated the Holt Indians 4-0,  sweeping the regular season matchups, Tuesday night at the Wentzville Ice Arena.

Four goals by four different Viking's players, a trademark of this season's Howell offense, only made the outstanding effort of Senior goaltender Easton Bristow even better. Bristow turned away all 21 shots he faced, including a series of three consecutive acrobatic saves midway through the second period, Holt's best offensive chances of the evening.

Senior Danny Del Vecchio's eighth goal of the season, assisted by Junior Will Peterson was the game winning goal, scored 4:53 into the game.  The Vikings doubled their lead later in the first when Sophomore Nate Angelo's spinning finish landing him in the goalie's lap, and the puck in the back of the net for his fifth score of the season.  Senior Nick Trankler added the assist, his fourth of the season.

Francis Howell's offense continued applying pressure as the second period began. Junior Will Peterson picked up his second point of the night, and his fourth goal of the season, when he scored just :37 seconds into the period. Del Vecchio and Junior Brayden Brandhorst added assists and the Vikings were up 3-0.

Senior Riley Wright intercepted a clearing pass out of the Holt offensive zone with 4:20 left in the middle period, weaving between several Holt defenders and slid the puck into the net for his eight tally of the season, unassisted, to end the scoring.

With the win Francis Howell (12-4-0), moves back into first place in the St. Charles West Division and first place in the conference with 24 points. The Vikings will play Parkway West (7-9-0) Thursday night at 8:15 at Queeny Park as a make up of the game originally scheduled for Dec. 1.
